The world-famous skeptic, James Randi, finds a lot of support for his work in his horoscope. Traditionally, Fire signs act with energy, confidence and ambition; and with a Leo sun sign there is ready potential for showmanship.
With four planets in Leo his charisma quotient would be quite high, especially with Venus there to add to his appeal. In addition, so much fire brings out a robust self-confidence and aggressive optimism.
In terms of raw skepticism we look at two main points in a horoscope; and he has these two points working together and revealing a not unexpected penchant for skepticism. In fact, the skeptical quotient is backed up by two planets that define a powerful intellect. Putting this together it would be very easy for him to rationally disassemble any argument into a collection of dubious assumptions.
All in all, he has the horoscope of a vibrant advocate of rational thought, of the reductionist kind; and who has great technical and mental competence - a mind like a steel trap might do him justice here. However, because of the strong Fire component (which leads to impulsiveness) astrology would suggest that he would be vulnerable to dismissing ideas or making decisions too quickly. However there would be few that could successfully debate such choices with him.
Please note that an inaccurate horoscope about James Randi was posted earlier - my fault, I did not double check my sources.
In that horoscope (out by 20 days) there was a much stronger emphasis on (Earth) practicality and raw toughness of character. In the correct horoscope the emphasis on Leo style attributes (like showmanship and leadership) comes dramatically to the fore.
Interestingly the penchant for skepticism grew stronger and largely due to the two planets that (when synchronized which they are) usually point to a powerful intellect - and that intellect is strongly integrated with the skepticism in his chart.
It should be noted though that the skeptical trait was around for a few months in 1928, so quite a few people had this tendency. However, in Randi’s horoscope it is hard to imagine a day when it was more powerfully emphasized.

Jubilation
The jubilation about the Inauguration of Barack Obama can be found in the horoscope of that event. Even though times are hard on people, due to Saturn’s influence, there is an astrological reason to be happy.
The Nation and Service
The influence of Venus, which gives warmth and happiness, is at work among many people. Although the oppressive impact of Saturn will persist, the astrology of this moment suggests that strong initiatives directed toward nation-building and the adoption of a stronger service orientation can make the difference.
Success and Values
In addition, the mighty and positive influence of Jupiter plays a significant role adding much more optimism about the potential for Barack Obama to deliver successful outcomes. It also signals a time where higher values and philosophies can come to the fore.
Celebration
The influence of Jupiter and Venus is enhanced by the Moon (emotions) just coming into Sagittarius (expansiveness and home sign of Jupiter) on the heels of the inauguration ceremony. All excellent ingredients for a celebration - in spite of adversity.
Signal Moment
However, the opportunities wrapped within this crowning moment belong to the USA through the timely inauguration of Barack Obama. This is America’s day.

At the most basic level, Astrology provides insights that are surprising in what they candidly reveal. By examining horoscopes at the simplest level we can see just how powerful Astrology can be.
In the horoscope of George W. Bush we see that his Sun is in Cancer, making him a Cancerian, but also in this sign is the planet Saturn. Cancer traditionally presents an emotional nature - except when they retreat into a “hard shell”.
The influence of Saturn tends to be one of coldness, harshness and restriction; as well as toughness and austerity. This can lead to a diminution of Cancer’s more compassionate side; and the notion of “tough love” can gain the upper hand.
Also, the otherwise likeable side of Cancer is diminished due to Saturn’s rather bleak astrological nature. However, such an individual is likely to perceive themselves as someone that can make “the tough decisions”.
In addition, Saturn tends to attract negative opinion without too much effort; especially given its prominent placement in this horoscope.
We see a strong connection between Mercury and Pluto in Leo. This combination, as well as indicating a capacity for political leadership, can also relate to making “life and death” choices. As Governor of Texas, George Bush chose to sanction 131 death sentences, in spite of serious questions as to the validity of many of these cases. (Click for more information on this point.)
Saturn can add a quality of ruthlessness to one’s nature and Leo, a presumption of righteousness. This combination can lead to actions of apparent indifference. Perhaps George W. Bush had special insight into the egregiously flawed cases before him or perhaps he was unwilling to challenge the legal system of his state. But his horoscope shows a capacity to make harsh, even brutal, choices.
There are other factors in his horoscope that both promote and diminish the capacity for compassion. There is in fact a broad interest in the public, at large; but also a further repression of expressing personal care and goodwill.
Whilst other more benign ways of expressing the potential of this horoscope exist, perhaps the context of his life suggested a harsher course. Many people support an uncompromising stance, but in adopting such a position the value and relevance of justice for the individual can be lost; a potential that certainly exists in this horoscope.

Success, Failure and Astrology
It is a common story; a person succeeds at one thing, tries something else - where they think should succeed – and fail completely. This is true for businesses as well. But does astrology play a role and, if so, how can that be utilized effectively; especially where astrology may not be “accepted”.
IBM versus Canon
IBM thought it had the technological power to expand into selling photocopying machines in the 70s. Canon, an overseas-based company, was IBM’s only real competition. Unfortunately for IBM the horoscope of Canon indicated greater success in the “image” business than IBM could as easily achieve. Despite its disadvantages, Canon eventually dominated the photocopying market in the USA during this period.
Missed the Importance of Visual Power
All of this information can be seen in their horoscopes. Astrologically, IBM had options in its horoscope to challenge Canon more vigorously, but they were not utilized. As an example, their marketing slogan for photocopying machines would have been more effective with something like “See” rather than “Think”. Their astrological strength involved harnessing Neptune’s visual power; as strange as that may sound, IBM did not project strength as a ‘visual’ technology, rather mostly as a ‘computing’ technology. They missed the boat.
Underutilized Astrological Assets
In essence, IBM did not utilise the full potential of its horoscope by not using some of its astrological assets. Also, if IBM had referenced astrology in their strategic planning they could have learned that Canon competes better in the business sector than in the public one; perhaps such information might have influenced their marketing strategy.
Belief in Astrology is Not a Requirement
Astrology poses a problem for a lot of people because they accept the opinion that it has no validity. Yet numerous investigators have attempted to prove it to be false and significant numbers (of very intelligent people) discover that disproving it is not so easy; neither is proving it, as much in its orbit is subjective. By looking at numerous horoscopes of people (and companies) that have had an impact, we can usually see striking correlations between their actions and their horoscopes. From this emerges the incentive to check if what we are doing resonates with astrology.
Even if we do not accept astrology as valid, nevertheless horoscopes can provide a thoughtful alternate “voice” that can suggest ideas and approaches; as the IBM/Canon example shows.
